Guard your thoughts as you begin this week. (8)

Dear friend,

You are headed into a new week. What are your thoughts? Are they more survive or thrive? Are they “got to” or “get to”? Is your life a pummelling or a privilege? In large measure, the way you think as you move into this week will determine how you will experience the week.

Pause for a moment and think of the week before you.

You have a calendar on which some of your plans are recorded. Most of these will probably come to pass. Many of these are opportunities to be God’s gift to people.

Undoubtedly much that you have not planned will also come to pass. You have the opportunity to be God’s gift in these situations, too.

Remember also that you are not the only one making plans for yourself. Reflect on this verse for a moment. Think about it. Apply it to the week ahead. Let it shift your attitude in every encounter and conversation. Consider:

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. — Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

Instead of life happening to you, you can be the thing that happens to other people. As you move into this week, go in confidence with your eyes open looking for your opportunities to do good works.

You are God’s gift to the world. Believe it. Own it. Live it.

Grace and peace,

John Rallison

I am a follower of Jesus Christ, though I am continually growing in understanding what that means. I believe that God loves everyone all the time. The world was created for love and whenever we veer from love, we miss the mark of who we were created to be.
