Be God’s Gift to a Cashier (6)

My daughter, Lilia, impresses me in many ways. One of the things she does makes her a gift to other people.

She almost always finds something to compliment about a cashier. It doesn’t matter if it’s a clothing store, a supermarket, or a restaurant, she will find something nice to say about the person.

“Nice earrings.”

“I love your nails.”

“Cool hair.”

Don’t make something up. Just observe and compliment. Even if you don’t particularly care for his or her hair, if he or she clearly took time to “do it up right,” that’s worth a compliment.

Yesterday at Cracker Barrel (yes, we at our Thanksgiving meal at Cracker Barrel and it was wonderful!) she noticed that the hostess had really nice teeth. So, she said, “You have really nice teeth!” It won’t surprise you to learn that the person smiled a wide and happy smile when she received the simple compliment.

Since this is Black Friday, you have an extraordinary chance to lighten someone’s day.

Be who you are. Be a gift today!

I am a follower of Jesus Christ, though I am continually growing in understanding what that means. I believe that God loves everyone all the time. The world was created for love and whenever we veer from love, we miss the mark of who we were created to be.
